Ashlyn and Steven had a vision. They knew from the start that they wanted a classic wedding with a modern vibe. Although they currently live in Tallahassee, they were willing to plan a wedding four hours south to get married at a venue they fell in love with years ago. Located in the heart of downtown Tampa, the Tampa Museum of Art checks all the boxes for a modern wedding venue: large open spaces, high ceilings, modern architecture, contemporary art, glass walls, lots of daylight, and a chic city backdrop at night. A wedding designer’s dream, the venue is a blank canvas waiting to be dressed up. Just outside the main floor of the museum is a vast, open terrace overlooking the river and University of Tampa. The perfect setting for a modern, outdoor ceremony. As the museum closed its doors to visitors, our vendor team rolled in and a total transformation began. Linens, candles, flowers, place settings, lighting… all the details to take the venue from a blank canvas to a lush, gorgeous reception. In the meantime, Ashlyn and Steven had their first look with each other. The benefits to having a first look moment is that it gives the couple a chance to connect before the ceremony, without being surrounded by hundreds of guests. Most couples agree that setting aside time for a first look helped them feel more grounded for the actual ceremony, so they could be present in the moment. It also gives the photographer more time for photos of the couple before the ceremony. The couple were married in December, just before Christmas at the Tampa Museum, so their carefully chosen touches of red were the perfect look for the season. Ashlyn’s timeless, round bouquet of merlot roses complimented Steven’s deep red velvet tuxedo jacket. Classic and not overstated. Ashlyn and Steven's ceremony was held on the terrace and guests were treated to the scenic riverfront views as the sun went down behind their perfect union. A golden-hour cocktail-hour followed the ceremony on the terrace and guests were able to enjoy the views, perfect weather, and tour the museum’s gallery. Guests were then invited into the reception space inside the lower level of the museum. The luxurious decor, romantic lighting, and every detail was picture-perfect as guests made their way to their seats. Perfection in the catering, bartending, and service only added to the elegance of the night. Toasts given by friends and family had everyone in tears (of joy), and feeling very blessed to be a part of this special night. Can we talk about the music? Once the DJ turned it up, this party got started! Ashlyn and Steven had a quick wardrobe change into their (super hot!) party attire and made their second entrance. There were some serious dance moves on the dance floor which was packed for the rest of the night! Even the event staff were dancing behind the scenes! But, like Cinderella’s ball, the night came to an end too quickly. Ashlyn and Steven had the most perfect ending to their wedding day with a private last dance. Ashlyn and Steven left in style, in a vintage Rolls Royce Wraith. Red, of course.
